New Single: "Anchors Aweigh" by Alisha Westerman

Alisha Westerman has released a music video for “Anchors Aweigh”, produced and directed by Francis Capone and shot by Markus Mentzer on Westerman’s native island of St. Croix. It’s the second video she has released in support of her forthcoming LP, Ego Trip. The video was shot just a few months before three hurricanes ripped through the Caribbean community. It features rich, bright imagery of Danish colonial architecture and natural landscapes. Westerman says, “St. Croix has the lush, the green, the vibrant, and also the crumbling and eroding. I love to show both.” Her father, sailor and Calypsonian Llewellyn Westerman, makes a cameo aboard his 37’ sailboat, Charis+. Lyrically, the song is meant to mythologize Westerman’s loved ones, culminating in a verse about her father suffering a heart attack while sailing. Its nautical themes are echoed by the percussive blasts of Danny Frankel (Lou Reed, Fiona Apple) and drummer Tabor Allen (Cherry Glazerr). Producer Chris Schlarb (Psychic Temple) describes the track as ”liquid minimalist no wave pop.” The eleven-track studio album will be out November 7th, 2017, on Westerman’s own label. The album release party is at The Semi-Tropic in Echo Park. For more about the artist, go to www.alishawesterman.com

"Human Prize" - Alisha Westerman

"Human Prize" premiered Friday September 22nd on buzzbands.la.

'The plaintive song, a rumination on wealth from the points of view of a celebrity, a billionaire and a working parent, gets an equally straightforward video treatment from director Francis Capone, who portrays Westerman busking on the Metro. “Busking was something I started doing in New York,” she says. “For one, I was broke and any bit of money helped. But also, it’s the best practice. You see what resonates with people.”' - BuzzBandsLA
